Scepters

A little like I say and you say! We say sceptre and in the US they say scepter.  Either way, a sceptre is a symbolic ornamental rod or wand which is carried in the hand by a ruling monarch as an item of royal insignia.  The most famous can be seen as part of the Crown Jewels housed in the Tower of London.  Although sceptres are used primarily to convey royal ascent, they have also been used by high ranking church officials and propably most notably as a symbal of authority in Egypt where although these were most likely full length staffs, they were called sceptres. The Pharoahs of ancient Egypt carried a mks-staff or sceptre. So whether you've chosen a Royal costume, Papal fancy dress or even an Egyptian Pharoah outfit, you'll need to find the right sceptre to complete that outfit.
