From one of the darkest periods in our recent history, a whole generation of nearly a million school children was evacuated from the major target cities in the UK to the relative safety of the countryside. Although this was a major logistical achievement, it came with a lot of heartbreak and sadness and yet for some it was a time of great excitement of moving to a new, and for most a cleaner and more healthy environment. And therefore with this heady mix of emotions, this girls costume, along with the others that we have in this collection, is sure to bring back a flood of both happy and sad memories to those who lived through the trauma.
From our huge collection of childrens fancy dress and WWII costumes, this is our Evacuee Girl fancy dress costume which comprises of a long sleeved bottle green coat which features a rounded brown collar. The coat has buttons to the front and has a high rounded neckline. Styled from the forties, the most evocative aspect of this girls fancy dress is the buff coloured label attached to the right hand side of the collar. This super interactive learning fancy dress is completed with a soft brown beret styled hat and the whole outfit is ideal for school productions and book weeks.
