A dark period in the history of man yet one which was the making of a lot of people offering them a chance to experience places and activities previously unavailable to them in their city homes, almost a million children were evacuated from their homes into the relative safety of the countryside. From this sad period of our recent history and just one of our collection of historical dress up costumes for children, this is our Schoolboy Evacuee costume. This children's WWII costume comprises of a sleeveless grey knitted pullover which has a contrsating coloured piping around the sleeves, vee-neckline and the hem.  It also has an attached shirt front with open collar line and long sleeves.  Asa a constant reminder of the disruption to family life, on the collar there is an attached label which bore the County Number that was applied to each evacuee.  Included with the costume is a pair of long dark trousers and there have an elasticated waistband for a comfortable fit and the whole look is completed with a blue cap. This is a stylised costume and is ideal for school productions and book weeks.
